About Sue Knight

Sue Knight represents the role that many parents have taken as their children get involved in minor sports. Help is needed and help is provided by those parents. Sue Knight was one of those parents, but she took her involvement to a whole different level. For over 50 years, Knight has fulfilled nearly every role relating to the growth and development of minor soccer. She served as President of the North Bay and District Youth Soccer Association from 1994 to 2001, President of North Bay Youth Soccer from 2002 – 2023, convened the Timbits youth soccer program for 37 years, one of the originators and coordinators of the Rapides Soccer School Program for 35 years, served as the Treasurer of the Northeast Soccer Association for 20 years and on and on and on. Sue assumed a key role in the development of the Lakeshore Bingo Hall, literally rolling her sleeves up to work with other key volunteers to establish that facility that not only generated hundreds of thousands of dollars for youth soccer, but served to benefit numerous other groups and organizations in our area. Sue Knight is the epitome of a dedicated volunteer who fought for what she believed in and has a “why not” attitude rather than a “why”. Whether she was fighting for more field time, organizing the end of season gala for minor soccer, manning a barbeque because someone had to do it or ensuring that all players had proper uniforms, Sue made sure that it happened putting passion and dedication into whatever the task might be not for personal glory, but for the greater good of the youngsters who wanted to participate. Sue Knight epitomizes this Hall of Fame’s definition of a sport builder and as such she is welcomed into the Sports Hall of Fame.
