Ted Thomson arrived in North Bay over 65 years ago and since that time, his contribution to sport as well as a multitude of other ventures has had a significant impact on our community. He originally became involved as the Treasurer for the Gateway Fastball Association. As his investment company grew, so did his contribution to North Bay. Over the decades, he has sponsored individuals, teams, and leagues at all levels with no request for recognition. Thomson has always worked on the premise that North Bay has been good to him and regardless of the ask, he has been good to so many. Although associated with hockey, the myriad of sponsorships and assistance provided covers a multitude of various sports, events and activities. In 1995, he became a part owner of the North Bay Centennials and in 2003 he became the major owner of the team keeping the team in North Bay for an additional 7 years. He also served as team Governor during that time. While many athletes have been recognized for their contributions to sport via the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame, Thomson having been recognized as Kiwanis Citizen of the Year and a Davedi Club Order of Merit recipient, is being recognized for his qualities as a builder of sport through his ongoing financial support for a myriad of athletes, teams and leagues.
